Reception/Dispensing Staff

When you telephone or visit the surgery, the first people you speak to will be the receptionists. There are five receptionists, Mous Van Gelder, Pam Thomson, Julie Shearer, Karen Robertson and Suzanne Parker. Lorna Whyte is the Practice Manager and also performs some reception duties. They ensure the smooth running of the practice and deal with your requests and questions. Any information you leave with them is treated in the strictest confidence.

General Practioners

Dr Catriona Kemp and Dr Simon Kemp work as a job share in the single handed practice. Dr Norena McAdam covers the leave periods for Drs Kemp. We have two 5th year Medical Students placements per year, each one lasting seven weeks.

Practice Nurse
Clare Fogarty our Practice Nurse holds daily clinics. All clinics are by appointment, so please telephone the surgery and the reception staff will give you an appointment time.

Community Nurses    

Community Nurses provide a service to those patients that have a nursing need within their home setting. The East team Commuity Nursing team which has registered nurses and a nursing auxiliary are based at Health Centre Kirkwall and also have a base at Daisy Villa Surgery. The community nursing service operates 7 days a week 08:30 - 17:00hours, can be contacted by telephoning 01856 831513 or 01856 888191, (answer phone if nurses out on calls) . There is an out of hours community nursing service which can be contacted via NHS24 on Free call 111. Sylvia Tomison, community nurse, and Cath Rendall, auxillary nurse are mainly attached to the practice.

The physiotherapist, Richard Bailey, holds a clinic on Tuesdays. Sessions are by appointment. You can refer yourself directly to the physiotherapy department on 01856 888231. For self referral please complete the self referral form and send to the Physiotherapy Department at the Balfour Hospital. The doctor may also refer you for physiotherapy.  Health Visitor 
The Ola Heath Visiting Team can be contacted on 01856 888115. May Armour, our local practice health visitor, can also be contacted on Thursdays on 01856 831513 or 01856 831206.
A chiropodist visits the practice. To be seen please arrange directly with the chiropody service on 01856 888236.
Community Mental Health  
Community mental health team can be contacted directly on 01856 852110. Patients can self refer and can be referred by their doctor. The teams remit includes assessment and management of mental health conditions, dementia, drug abuse and alcohol abuse. The team comprises of a psychiatrist, community psychiatrist nurses, psychologist and drug/alcohol specialist nurses.
