Practice Manager/Reception/Dispensing Staff

When you phone or visit the surgery the first people you will speak to will be the reception/dispensing staff. They are Mous Van Gelder, Pam Thomson, Julie Shearer, Karen Robertson, Suzanne Parker, and Susan Wishart. They will deal with your requests and questions and any information left with them is treated in strictest confidence. Lorna Whyte is the Practice Manager and  oversees the smooth running of the practice.


General Practitioners

Dr Catriona Kemp and Dr Simon Kemp work as a job share in the single handed practice. Dr Norena McAdam covers the leave periods for Drs Kemp. 

Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Clare Fogarty our Advanced Nurse Practitioner holds daily clinics. All clinics are by appointment, so please telephone the surgery and the reception staff will give you an appointment time.
Phlebotomy Clinic (Bloods)
 Susan Wishart and Jan Flett (relief phlebotomist) are the phlebotomists and work Tuesday and Thursday 9:30 to 12:00
Community Nurses    

Community Nurses provide a service to those patients that have a nursing need within their home setting. The East team Community Nursing team is based at the Balfour Hospital, Kirkwall and also have a base at Daisy Villa Surgery. The community nursing service operates 7 days a week 08:30 - 17:00 hours, can be contacted by telephoning 01856 831513 or 01856 888191, (answer phone if nurses out on calls) . There is an out of hours community nursing service which can be contacted via NHS24 on Free call 111. Sylvia Tomison is the main community nurse.


An appointment can be made with our physiotherapist, Graham Boniface at Daisy Villa if you have a musculoskeletal problem. You do not need to see the GP first. He works in the practice on a Thursday morning and will initially contact you by phone or video call to discuss the problem.  Please contact Daisy Villa if you would like an appointment or further information. 

Patients can also be referred by the GP or Practice Nurse.

 Mental Health Nurse 
An appointment can be made with our Mental Health Nurse, Graeme Bartlett without seeing the GP. He works in the practice on a Monday morning and will initially contact you by telephone or video call. This service is not available to patients already being seen by the Community Mental Health Team. 
Patients can also be referred by the GP or Practice Nurse.
Community Mental Health  
The Community mental health team can be contacted directly on 01856 888240. Patients can self refer and can be referred by their doctor. The teams remit includes assessment and management of mental health conditions, dementia, drug abuse and alcohol abuse. The team comprises of a psychiatrist, community psychiatrist nurses, psychologist and drug/alcohol specialist nurses. We will shortly have a visiting Community Psychiatric Nurse and appointments can be booked directly by contacting the surgery on 01856 831206.
